Ever notice how we're always rushing to set new goals without taking a minute to process the past? We don’t wanna be making the same mistakes, so pump those breaks, baby - it’s time to reflect!
It doesn’t have to be daunting or stress-provoking… in fact, think of it as having coffee & a croissant with an old friend - there are so many gems hiding in those memories!
“Look Back At It”
Here's the thing; your past is like a treasure map. Every win, every “oopsie-daisy” moment, every decision you’ve made “for the plot” has left breadcrumbs and cheat-codes for your future success.
Lacing Up:
Grab your favourite beverage and a notebook (or notes app - no judgment, pinky swear)
Find a quiet spot where you won't be interrupted
Set a timer for 30 minutes
QTNA’s:
What made you most excited in the past year? List those wins!
What moments made you grow, even if they were tough at the time?
Which habits served you best, and which ones were more like a toxic ex?
What surprised you most about yourself this year? (Plot twists welcome)
Turning Reflection into Action
Now, this… THIS is where the magic happens! Take those reflections and use them as a guide. Did you crush it at work but your self-care game was lacking? Were you 100 percent into your business, but your relationships suffered? Did you begrudgingly take on “free work” for exposure, with nothing to show?
Quick Tips for Reflection Success:
Be honest with yourself (brutally honest - but with kindness!)
Celebrate ALL wins - even the ones that seem insignificant
Look for patterns - they're usually trying to tell you something!
Trust your gut feelings about what worked and what didn't
Don’t be afraid to pivot or try something new
You're gathering intel for your next chapter. This isn't about dwelling on the past; it's about learning.
This is just the beginning of the whole “reflection thing” - to go more in-depth with this process, download my Reflection Guide Workbook - you can fill it out directly on the PDF (yes, I made it fillable), or you can print it and jot down your notes the old fashioned way OR you can load it right into your “Good Notes” App on your iPad.
